MTN Elite Two: Canon beats National to secure second position

Canon of Yaounde beat National Polytechnic of Bambui 2-0 in a day 15th match of the MTN Elite Two league played at the Mbankomo CAF stadium. The two teams came on the pitch with similar colours and arguments over jersey colours delayed kick off time.
In a one way match dominated by the “Mekok megonda” of Yaounde, National polytechnic did all it could to contained Canon but finally bowed at the 56th minute when Achille Romuel Ntsama got the opener with a beautiful header and right back Samuel Tanga Bassale for the assist.
The second goal came in at the 83rd minute from Cyrille Ekamba from a 25m shot.
The efforts of captain Muteh Lious upfront were fruitless as National were unable to pierce the solid Canon defence.
National’s goal getter Gilles Emmanuel eventually saw red at the 85th minute after an assault on a Canon player.  Tension mounted as moving out of the pitch, he begged for drinking water on the Canon bench but was denied water.

Match statistics

Canon moves back to the second position with 27 points, 4 points behind current league leaders, PWD Bamenda.
National Polytechnic of Bambui remains in the relegation zone, 13th position with 10 just points. They will have an opportunity to refill their basket of points as they face Cosmos of Mbam on sunday 6th may 2016 in Bamenda.
