Karl Toko Smashes Aboubakar’s record in the French Ligue 1
25 years old Cameroonian forward Karl Toko Ekambi is having his best season ever time in the French league at Angers.The forward scored last weekend to earn a point for Angers against Strasbourg as his continues to enhance his reputation as the club’s Redeemer this season, his latest league goal took his season tally to 17 goals,consequently smashing the record set by Vincent Aboubakar in the 2013/2014 season while playing for Lorient.
Before Ekambi’s 17th league goal of the season,he was tied on 16 goals with Abou,with 16 being the highest number of goals scored by a Cameroonian in the French ligue un in a single campaign before now,Toko is now a record .
Ekambi’s return of 17 goals plus 4 assists in 30 of Angers 32 league games this season represent his best return per season. Angers is currently 14th in the log in the ligue in with 17 of their 37 goals scored by Toko.
Toko’s great output this season has seen him nominated alongside compatriot Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa amongst Candidates for the 2018 Marc Vivien Foe Award after numerous player of the week awards in France.
Toko Joined Angers in the summer of 2016 after stints at French sides, Paris FC and Sochaux and In the colours of Angers he has since then scored 24 goals in 62 appearances.Though the Cameroon international is on contract with Angers till June 2020, bigger clubs around Europe will certainly lunch bids for him come the end of the season.
