Cameroon football: The untold Fairy tale story of YOSA of Bamenda

Talk about this north west outfit before and even after their first elite one game this season on the 12th of February 2018 and many bookmakers will wet their lips to talk about an interesting relegation dog fight with Yong sports academy of Bamenda involved.
But why were they not hold that opinion? It was only normal to think YOSA will be in that situation; with Over 15 top class first team players leaving the club at the end of last season many of this bookmakers could only foresee hard times.
This bookmakers can be forgiven because for a club
that let go of Mbem Leopold(at least 2nd best goalkeeper in the MTN elite one championship for the last 2 seasons) Junior Awona(Best midfielder in the 2017 season and captain of the intermediate Lions of Cameroon) Daouda Alim(Voted best left back in the month of February for his performance at Feutcheu FC this season),Eric Joel Ntieche(champion of Cameroon with Cotonsport of Garoua and CAF confederation cup participant with YOSA),Richard Ebongue Ebongue (SYNAFOC player of last month),Herman Talla(Voted goalkeeper of match day 4 for his reflexes against Stade Renard for Aigle),Acha Levis(First choice defender with Astres of Douala) and many others it had to take more than just hardwork to replace them.
“Bobe” Doumbe Bosso as he can be better described didn’t let this mass exodus weigh him down but he rather embarked in the recruitment of guys whose career seem to be closing in on an ugly twist and revitalized them.He brought in former Bamenda FC and DAC 2000 Taku Robert who had not played competitive football for over a year since his return from Thailand,he got Konyuy Jude who can arguably be described as a YOSA legend for his goal poaching ability,Mbong Lionel who had endured a difficult campaign at Union Sportive Douala from YOSA was equally recalled to Bamenda, save hands Adum Deffallah,Relegated Ngang Christian Tsi joined the club, relegated in the previous season with Lion Blesse of Fortuni despite netting 7 times.Bobe promoted a bulk of players from YOSA feeder team National polytechnic of Bambui.
Despite the hard work in training YOSA failed to score even a goal in their first 2 league games against YAFOOT FC and Bamboutos of Mbouda .As pressure mounted on Doumbe Bosso,he carried his troops away from Bamenda to Melong with a script well designed to create history. Despite all Stade Renard of Melong efforts on that day YOSA left Melong with a 1 nil win to become the first elite one side to beat Stade Renard at home in the competition after Stade Renard’s over 1 year experience in elite one.
The win over Stade Renard set YOSA on their way to breaking their club record as for the first time in 7 years, boys of president Yong Jacques have picked up 19 points from their first 10 games scoring 6 goals and conceding 2 with current top scorer, Nkwenti Festus hitting the back of the net twice in the process.
YOSA’s current form is built on a solid foundation at the back, with an organized back line made up of components like Mbong Lionel, Adu Wum,Thierry Ngalle and great shot stopper in Adoum Deffallah who has kept clean sheets in all games he has played in this season.
YOSA’s problems upfront is well documented and seen by all but if the club succeeds to maintained her current average of 19 points every 10 games then by match day 34 of this season’s championship, the yellow and greens would have hit the 60 points marker making it very possible for the club to think about been crown champions of Cameroon for the first time in their history and 5 years after the club won the cup of Cameroon.
Football works in mysterious ways, from favourite for a relegation battle,
YOSA now have an appointment with history, win the 2018 MTN elite one championship and the club becomes the second team from the English extraction of Cameroon to do so after the great Tiko team that won it 9 years ago against all odds.
Mind you don’t get carried away the last time YOSA came close to having such an impressive start of the season was in 2015 and back then the club picked up 17 points in her first 10 games but the wheels came off at the crucial stage of the race and YOSA ended that campaign in the 8th spot.YOSA is currently ranked 3rd with 19 points just like 1st place, Feutcheu FC and 2nd place Cotonsport FC of Garoua.
YOSA is currently in Yaoundé for 2 games against AS Fortuna on Saturday and defending champions Eding Sport FC next week.
