Cameroon football: Colombe Runs out of patience and renders another coach jobless
Barely 11 games played by all clubs all MTN Elite one clubs and 3 days after Bamboutos of Mbouda replaced Albert Charlemagne Mbongo with Anicet Mbarga Foe, another MTN elite one coach has lost his job owing to his club’s poor performance this season.
The lone Elite one club from the south region of Cameroon,Colombe of Dja FC have yesterday parted company with coach Thierry Mettomo following a streak of poor results thus taking the tally of sacked coaches in the MTN elite one championship this season to 5.
Aigle Royal of Menoua, Cotonsport of Garoua, New Stars of Douala, Bamboutos of Mbouda and now Colombe of Dja have for similar reasons lost trust in the coaches they had trusted going into this season.
Colombe’s administrative head in a release confirmed on Saturday night after the defeat to UMS of Loum that the club had terminated its commitments with coach Thierry Mettomo due to the club’s poor run of results and wish him luck in his career. A press conference will be granted for further explanation at the hotel de la Ville in Sangmelima on Monday 2nd April 2018,Ngane Jeanot takes temporal charge of the team while the search for a new coach continues.
Colombe Dja’s 1 nil defeat to UMS of Loum yesterday in Yaoundé meant the club yet again failed to score in Yaoundé for the 4th game in a streak. To rub salt to the Club’s wounds, this latest defeat meant the club have picked up just 2 wins,5 draws and 4 defeats in 11 games amounting to only 11 points accumulated from a possible 33 points.
Thierry Mettomo who previously served as back room staff at Colombe last season before picking up the Colombe coaching job full time in the beginning of this season as replacement to Olivier Nankam who had left for Astres of Douala at the end of his brief fairy stint.
Recent trends indicates that as football carefully move from being pleasure to being business, the hiring and firing of coaches will be a more rampant scenario the world over.
