In the opening weekend 2017 champions and Cameroon’s representative in the CAF champions league EDING FC OF LEKIE have been programmed to visit 2008 runners up ASTRES of Douala.
While 2017 CUP of Cameroon champions,NEW STARS of Douala are to host the team of the second half last season COLOMBE of DJA.
EDING FC and NEW STARS have continental assignments this weekend and so their games will be played on a later date.
The opener will be in Limbe which confidently is the venue where EDING’s captain PASCAL MBARGA ABEGA scored one of the goals from the penalty spot last season as EDING defeated NEWS STARS 3 nil to win her first title five years after their creation.
The opener at the Limbe Centenary stadium sees last 3rd best points accumulating team, APEJES of MFOU of coach HERMAN OUMAROU SOGBA take on 4th place team at the end of last season FEUTCHEU FC of Djiko Bandjoun this days managed by Congolese Magloire Mfutila.
FEUTCHEU VS APEJES MFOU,a veritable football battle, last season join top scorer FRANCIS MAXIMILAN ELIMBI(19 goals for AIGLE ROYAL) VS FRANKLIN NGUEA TCHEBEMOU, Last season deputy top scorer with 16 goals.
It’s FEUTCHEU’s second season after promotion while for APEJES MFOU, it would be the club’s 4th top flight campaign.
Expect goals in Limbe on youth day as the last 2 elite one clash between these clubs have produced 8 goals and home wins for the host.

AIGLE ROYAL vs BAMBOUTOS
After passing through the eye of the needle to stay up last season thanks to Francis Elimbi’s 19 of the club’s 25 League goals Aigle will be at the CENAJES stadium in Dschang to welcome regional rivals BAMBOUTOUS FC of Mbouda.
The two clubs with a very long History are still to win a major title.
AIGLE ROYAL of coach Fernandez Fanya Fanya is 85 years old and counting without a major trophy but many supporters of the club believe it will not be another “heart in mouth season”.Bamboutous of coach Charlemane Mbongo went operational in 1966 but the “Mangwa boys” as the club is popularly called are still to win an official trophy. At the end of the last football season, 3 points made the difference between 13th placed BAMBOUTOUS FC and 15th place Aigle Royal of Menoua.
AIGLE ROYAL and BAMBOUTOUS FC have clashed 10 times in the past in Elite one competition,Aigle have 4 wins to show for in the past while Bambotous have 3 wins with the other 3 games as draws.
Aigle have recorded wins in 3 of the last 5 meetings between the two sides with 1 of the game ending in a draw and Bamboutous recording one win.
Only 1 of the last 5 games between this two sides have had more than a goal.So don’t expect a high scoring game.
YOSA VS YAFOOT FC.
Created in 1996 FC Yaounde 2 is back in the Top flight. The club guided by coach Atangana Ngandi have enjoyed back to back promotions for the last two season’s and in YAFOOT’s first elite one test this season,They will be in Bamenda.Wonder kid Frank Junior upfront and experienced Pascal Lebongo are some of the New faces brought in by president Luc Assamba to add value.
YOSA on their part have change a bunch of their playing staff with the departure of over 13 first team players last season.
The wonder working Coach Emmanuel Doumbe Bosso is still the dugout man at YOSA and he has invested his trust in New Signings Mbong Lionel,Adoum Deffallah(Chadian international goalkeeper),Konyuy Jude(Returning for his 4th spell).
Given YOSA’s good home form since her promotion to elite one in 2008 newly promoted YAFOOT have a hot potato to handle in Bamenda.
Important to note that YAFOOT FC have had a longer pre season preparation, played more games than YOSA and that could just be a telling factor on that match day.
STADE RENARD VS UNION DOUALA
Promoted two season’s ago,Stade Renard of Melong never suffered a defeat in Melong last season but the multiple draws(17) recorded by the club was their undoing.
In an attempt to push further than the 5th place finish last season, the Littoral club have added to their squad former Victoria United duo Banga Federick and goalkeeping sensation Tayiwoh Princewill. The biggest amongst the lots of business made by president Jean Kuete is recruitment of Former NQSA, Botafogo, Lion Blesse, Bamboutous FC and New Stars coach Djam Laurent Goerges.
On the part of 5 times champions Union Sportive Douala, preparation for the new season has been serene all be it without the big names that have left the club amongst which include;Mbong Lionel now of YOSA,Ngweni Ndassi now an employee of Cotonsport,Charles Edoa Ngah and David Etoo now with EDING FC.Plus Duo Frantz Pangop and Mbaizo Olivier now in the United States to continue their football adventures.
The best piece of Business so far on base of reputation has been the recruitment of Dragon’s top scorer in the last two seasons Mimong Donald AGBOR Ernest remains president Frank Happi’s tried and trusted one.
The game in Melong of the 12 February 2018 will remarkably be a meeting between the draw champions of last season (Stade Renard with 17 draws) and the Vice champions of the same aspect(Union S. Douala with 16 draws)
Don’t forget this clash is a Littoral derby and I can’t role out the option of the game ending in a draw as was the case last season in Melong.
DRAGON VS UMS
(A clash between two former champions)
It has been a quiet preparation for former champions Dragon Yaounde and lossing their goal machine Mimong Donald to USD doesn’t help. The arrival of international coach Richard Towa is a veritable boaster.left back Arrey Valery Dungston who missed over half of last season due to cruciate ligaments damage is back to full fitness.
2016 champions UMS of Loum have made wholesale changes especially at the defensive department.
Center back Paul Gravier Abouem Maya has not return for pre season as reports suggest he is close to joining Cotonsport of Garoua, “landlord” Tchamda Romeo have left for Astres of Douala on a 2 year deal while Otia Paul has taken up a new commitment in Spain and Etta Thomas Bawak is now an employee of New Stars of Douala.
