Angola eyeing Chan quarterfinal berth
Angola will be hoping to bag a win and reach the 2018 CAF African Nations Championship quarterfinals when they meet Congo on Wednesday at Stade Adrar.
Kick-off is at 9pm (CAT).
The Palancas Negras will be eyeing their second win in Group D to ensure they join two fellow Southern African sides in the last eight.
Zambia and Namibia are through to the knockout stages and Angola will want to bag their second win after opening with a 0-0 draw against Burkina Faso and defeating Cameroon 1-0.
They sit at No 2 in the group with four points behind the Red Devils.
Coach Srdan Vasiljevic’s troops will also be gunning to unseat their opponents at the group summit. A win will see them finishing with seven points.
Looking at Congo, they have had a great run in the showpiece so far and will want to make it three wins in a row.
They beat the Stallions of Burkina Faso and secured a win over the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in their first group match.
Leading the standings with six points motivates the Congolose to go all out for another win to bag nine points and head to the last eight on a high.
The two nations have met eight times and the Congolese have five wins and two losses while the other clash ended in a stalemate.
Algerian referee Mustapha Ghorbal will be the man taking charge of the proceedings in this highly anticipated encounter.
